
Facebook Inc said it restored services on Sunday after some users could not access its social networking site, photo-sharing network Instagram and messaging app WhatsApp. However, Facebook did not specify the cause or scope of the outages.

Chinese tech giant Huawei has announced that it has won the tender to build a 4G network for the metro in Ukraine’s capital city Kiev. It will be Huawei’s largest subway telecom system project among the 27 Central, Eastern European and Scandinavian countries, a company statement said.

WhatsApp has started rolling out the ‘Frequently Forwarded’ message’s label on both Android as well as iOS apps to let users know if the message they have received has been forwarded over five times. Long forwarded messages will also be truncated, and users will have to tap to read the full message. This new label is available for all the users who are on the latest version of WhatsApp.

After facing flak, tech giants Google and Apple have now stopped snooping on users’ conversations. While Apple has suspended the program that let its virtual assistant Siri listen to users’ recordings for “quality control”, Google has stopped listening and transcribing Google Assistant recordings in Europe.

Gartner predicts the life span of a high-end smartphone would increase from 2.6 years to nearly 2.9 years through 2023. Smartphone sales worldwide would decline by 2.5 percent in 2019, which would be the worst decline ever, a new report by Gartner said on Thursday.
