The revised stipend structure will benefit 1,714 interns across the state's government Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy medical institutions. This includes 588 Ayurveda interns, 150 Unani interns and 976 Homoeopathy interns.

Graduates who complete their BAMS, BUMS or BHMS examinations at government Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy medical colleges, institutions and universities in Uttar Pradesh are required to undergo a compulsory rotating internship as part of their medical training.

During the internship, students gain practical experience by assisting medical professionals in patient care at government medical colleges, institutions and universities. Their responsibilities include working in hospital wards and outpatient departments (OPDs), as well as undertaking night shifts.

The stipend increase is expected to provide additional financial support to interns during this mandatory training period, while recognizing their contribution to the functioning of government healthcare facilities across the state.
