The guidelines aim to streamline entry procedures and ensure smooth conduct of the examination across centers, with candidates advised to follow norms and arrive early to avoid inconvenience.

The National Testing Agency has issued fresh guidelines for candidates appearing in NEET UG 2026, detailing the dress code and items allowed at examination centers ahead of the May 3 exam.
In a public notice dated April 30, 2026, the agency said that it has issued an important advisory to candidates taking NEET UG 2026, outlining the dress code and permissible items at examination centers, adding that the exam is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2026.

It further stated that all candidates must carefully follow the prescribed guidelines to ensure a smooth and hassle-free examination process.
According to the instructions, candidates will be permitted to carry only transparent water bottles inside the examination hall.
The agency also said that articles of faith are allowed under certain conditions, with candidates required to report early to facilitate proper frisking procedures.
Regarding attire, the advisory recommends light clothing. However, candidates may wear full sleeves or woollens if necessary, provided they arrive early to allow time for additional security checks.
Slippers and low-heeled footwear have been suggested to avoid delays during screening.
The agency has stated that all candidates must strictly follow the dress code and cooperate with the examination staff, while arriving early is highly recommended, especially for those who require additional screening due to specific attire or items.
