NEET admission fraud racket dismantled in Delhi, four accused arrested

Delhi Police have uncovered an organized racket accused of cheating NEET aspirants and their families by promising assured MBBS admissions, arresting four individuals, including the alleged mastermind and a doctor, officials said.

Police said 18 students, including minors, were rescued after being taken to undisclosed locations on the pretext of being given “exam questions” ahead of the NEET UG 2026 examination held on May 3.

Investigators found that the accused allegedly created “fake” question papers using material from previous years and coaching institutes.

They reportedly demanded ₹20 to ₹30 lakh from families, collecting token amounts with claims of securing guaranteed medical seats.

The operation began after Delhi Police received specific inputs on May 2 from Surat Police about a suspect operating from the capital and offering illegal admission assistance through NEET. Technical surveillance led teams to Mahipalpur Extension, where several hotels were searched.

Four suspects were identified at a hotel, including Vinod Bhai Bhikha Bhai Patel, who is believed to have targeted aspirants from Gujarat.

Police said some students had been taken away from their guardians. Acting on leads, officers set a trap near a hospital in Ghaziabad, rescuing three students and arresting the alleged mastermind, Santosh Kumar Jaiswal.

Further raids at a flat in Ghaziabad led to the rescue of 15 more students, some of them minors scheduled to appear for the exam. Police said they were counseled and allowed to take the test.

Two additional accused, Sant Pratap Singh and Dr Akhlaq Alam, alias Golden Alam, were arrested during the raid.

According to investigators, the group operated through a structured plan in which Jaiswal allegedly designed the scheme, Alam prepared the fake papers, Singh handled logistics and accommodation, and Patel acted as a broker to approach families.

Police recovered 149 pages of alleged question-and-answer material, three blank signed checks belonging to victims, and other documents during the operation.
