Harvard launches free tech courses for students, professionals online

Harvard University has rolled out a series of free online courses focused on artificial intelligence, data science, and programming, offering flexible learning options for both beginners and working professionals through its digital platform.

The courses are a mix of self-paced and scheduled formats, allowing learners to build foundational knowledge or advance technical skills in high-demand areas.

1. Data Science: Building Machine Learning Models
   This course covers core machine learning concepts, including algorithms, cross-validation, and regularization. It also introduces recommendation systems. The program runs for 8 weeks and is self-paced.
2. CS50's Computer Science for Business: This course explores how technology is applied in business settings, including computational thinking, programming, internet technologies, web development, and cloud computing. It is available from April 1 to December 30, 2026.
3. CS50's Understanding Technology: A beginner-level course that explains essential concepts such as the internet, multimedia, security, web development, and programming. It is designed for non-technical learners and runs for 6 weeks in a self-paced format.
4. Introduction to Data Science with Python: This program offers practical training in Python for data analysis using tools like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and SKLearn. It also includes building and evaluating basic machine learning models. Duration is 8 weeks, and it is self-paced.
5. CS50's Web Programming with Python and JavaScript: Focused on web development, this course teaches HTML, CSS, Git, Python, Django, SQL, and JavaScript. It spans 12 weeks with an expected commitment of 6 to 9 hours per week.
6. CS50's Introduction to Programming with Scratch: This beginner-friendly course introduces programming basics such as loops, conditions, functions, and variables using Scratch. It runs for 3 weeks and is self-paced.
