DU opens Financial Support Scheme applications for 2026-27

The University of Delhi has opened applications for its Financial Support Scheme (FSS) 2026-27 for eligible full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The scheme is being implemented through the Office of the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) and provides fee waivers based on students’ annual family income. The last date to submit the online application is October 13, 2026.

Fee waiver under DU FSS

Students are divided into two income categories under the scheme.

Those with an annual family income of up to ₹4 lakh fall under Category I and can receive a 100 per cent fee waiver, subject to the actual fee or a maximum waiver of ₹15,000, whichever is applicable.

Students with an annual family income of ₹4,00,001 to ₹8 lakh fall under Category II and can receive a 50 per cent fee waiver, subject to the actual fee or a maximum waiver of ₹10,000.

Who can apply?

The scheme is open to full-time bona fide students enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate degree programmes at a Delhi University department, institution or centre, subject to the prescribed income and other eligibility conditions.

Students enrolled in constituent colleges, BTech programmes except the Cluster Innovation Centre, five-year integrated law programmes, the School of Open Learning (SOL) and the Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) are not eligible.

Students who have an Essential Repeat (ER) in any previous examination are also excluded from the scheme.

Documents required

Applicants need to submit an EWS/OBC-NCL certificate or annual family income certificate for the 2025-26 financial year, issued by a competent authority.

The application also requires, where applicable, self-attested copies of the latest income tax returns and PAN cards of parents and eligible unmarried siblings. Students must also submit the prescribed undertaking, a bonafide certificate signed by the relevant Head or Director, the marksheet of the last examination, the latest fee receipt and bank account details in the student's own name.

The university has stated that income certificates issued in the student's name or signed by a notary will not be accepted. Third-party bank account details are also not accepted.

Application deadline

Students can submit the online FSS application by October 13, 2026.

The schedule for submitting printed copies of the online application and supporting documents to the DSW office will be announced separately by the university.

Delhi University has operated the Financial Support Scheme in previous academic years as a fee-waiver mechanism for eligible students. Its DSW records show that 2,095 students applied in 2022-23 and 1,009 students received fee waivers after document verification.
