Expansion driven by IT, finance, and hospitality sectors boosts employment and economic activity

India’s services sector has recorded strong growth according to the latest Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data, reflecting increased business activity and rising demand across several industries. The sector continues to play a crucial role in driving the country’s economic expansion.
The growth has been largely supported by industries such as information technology services, financial services, and hospitality. Increased domestic demand and global outsourcing opportunities have further strengthened the performance of the sector.

The expansion of services has also contributed to higher employment levels, with companies reporting increased hiring to meet growing business requirements. Improved consumer spending and recovery in tourism and hospitality have further supported the sector’s momentum.
The services sector contributes nearly 55 percent to the Gross Domestic Product of India, making it the largest component of the economy. Economists note that sustained growth in the sector will remain essential for boosting exports, generating employment, and maintaining overall economic growth in the country.
