Jordan and Qatar are exploring ways to strengthen cooperation in higher education, with a focus on academic accreditation, quality assurance and professional training to improve educational outcomes and strengthen links between qualifications and labour market requirements.
Dhafer Sarayreh, president of Jordan’s Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC), discussed the proposed areas of cooperation with Maha Al-Ruwaili, cultural attaché at the Qatari Embassy in Jordan, during a meeting in Amman on Oct 14.

The discussions covered the commission’s role in improving the quality of higher education institutions and their academic programmes, as well as developing frameworks and standards for academic, professional and technical qualifications.
These standards are intended to improve educational outcomes and ensure that qualifications remain relevant to the skills and competencies required by employers.
Joint training and expertise exchange on agenda

Al-Ruwaili also stressed the importance of closer Jordanian-Qatari cooperation in developing higher education systems and improving the quality of institutions and academic programmes.
The two sides explored opportunities for trainee placements, joint training programmes and knowledge-exchange initiatives. The proposed activities aim to strengthen institutional capabilities, develop professional competencies and deepen educational ties between Jordan and Qatar.
They also discussed potential joint initiatives to support educational institutions in both countries.
The meeting focused on exploring areas for future cooperation. No specific agreement, implementation timeline or new joint programme was announced in the report.
