Family clamps down on medical updates as Aamir Khan visits the 90-year-old screenwriting legend in Mumbai.

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan remains under medical supervision at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after being admitted earlier this week. But even as doctors confirm he is stable, the focus has sharply shifted to the family’s firm stand on privacy — and reported displeasure from his son, actor Salman Khan.
Sources close to the Khan family revealed that Salman and his relatives were unhappy after the hospital issued a public medical bulletin detailing Salim Khan’s condition. Following the backlash, the hospital will no longer release updates, with the family insisting that any communication be handled privately.

“Health is a private matter. Ideally, no updates should be shared with the media. Any communication should be left entirely to the family, if and when they choose to address fans and well-wishers,” a source was quoted as saying by Variety India.
The source added that the family had “clearly conveyed” to hospital authorities that no further medical details should be disclosed, underscoring concerns over confidentiality and speculation.
While acknowledging immense public interest in the well-being of the legendary writer, the family believes medical information must remain confidential and free from media scrutiny.
Salim Khan, 90, was admitted on February 17 after suffering a minor brain haemorrhage. He was brought to the emergency department by the family doctor at around 8:30 am and later shifted to the ICU for close monitoring under pulmonologist Dr Jalil D Parkar.
Addressing reporters outside the hospital earlier, Dr Parkar confirmed that the veteran writer was stable and had been placed on ventilator support as a precautionary measure — not because he was critical.
“He was having jerks and his blood pressure was high. We treated him. The ventilator was precautionary so his condition would not worsen. He is stable and doing quite well. Age is a factor, so recovery will take time,” the doctor said.
He clarified that no surgery was required, describing the brain haemorrhage as “very minimal” and stating that only a routine procedure had been performed.
In the days following his admission, members of the Khan family — including Salma Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sshura Khan, Alvira, Arpita, and Helen — have been seen visiting him regularly.
On February 19, actor Aamir Khan arrived at Lilavati Hospital along with his girlfriend Gauri Spratt to check on the screenwriting stalwart. The couple was seen leaving together after spending time with the family.
As one half of the iconic Salim-Javed duo, Salim Khan has shaped the golden era of Hindi cinema. For now, however, the family’s message is clear — his recovery, not public commentary, must take centre stage.
