The revised appointment modifies the June order and will remain effective until the government appoints a regular CBSE Chairperson or issues further directions, whichever comes first.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has assigned IAS officer Lokhande Prashant Sitaram the additional charge of Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) while appointing him as Additional Secretary in the Department of Home under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
According to an official order, Lokhande, a 2001-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer, will serve as Additional Secretary in the Department of Home and simultaneously hold the additional charge of CBSE Chairperson.

The arrangement will continue until a regular CBSE Chairperson is appointed or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The latest order revises the Union government's June notification, under which Lokhande had been appointed as the full-time CBSE Chairperson.
Under the revised arrangement, he will now hold the CBSE post as an additional charge alongside his responsibilities in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The move is intended to ensure continuity in the functioning of the board while the government initiates the process of appointing a regular CBSE Chairperson. During the interim period, Lokhande will oversee the board's administrative and academic functions.
CBSE is expected to announce the Class 10 compartment examination results shortly. The examinations were conducted from May 15 to May 21, 2026.
Students who appeared for the supplementary examination will be able to access their results on the official websites, cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and results.cbse.nic.in. The scorecards will also be available through DigiLocker and the UMANG mobile application.
To check the results, candidates will need to visit the official CBSE website, click on the Class 10 compartment examination result link, enter their roll number, admit card ID, and other required credentials, and submit the details to view and download their scorecard.
