DU students hold Campus Justice March, demand safer spaces for women

Students affiliated with the Students' Federation of India (SFI) held a Campus Justice March at Delhi University's North Campus on Saturday, raising concerns over women's safety and demanding stronger institutional action to make campuses and public spaces safer for women.

The protesters raised slogans questioning the continued concerns over women's safety and alleged that incidents of sexual violence continue despite repeated public discussions and assurances on women's security.

The march called for greater accountability from authorities and institutions, with protesters stressing that women should be able to access educational campuses and public spaces without having to restrict their movement because of safety concerns.

Protesters seek stronger action on women's safety

Carrying placards with messages such as "Why are women still not safe in India?" and "Nirbhayas are still happening in India", the protesters demanded greater accountability and stronger measures to prevent violence against women.

The march also highlighted the fear and insecurity experienced by women in public spaces. Protesters questioned how long women would continue to face restrictions on their mobility and called for concrete steps to create safer campuses and public spaces.

SFI seeks sustained institutional response

SFI members said women's safety required sustained institutional action and accountability rather than responses limited to the aftermath of incidents of violence.

The protesters called for stronger mechanisms to address concerns related to women's safety and for institutions to take proactive steps to create an environment where women students can study, travel and participate in public life without fear.
