Special academic sessions for Classes 9, 10, and 12 will run from May 11 to 23, focusing on subject reinforcement, attendance monitoring, and individualized student support.

The Delhi government has declared summer vacation for all schools functioning under the Directorate of Education from May 11 to June 30, 2026.
Alongside the holiday schedule, the administration has also directed schools to conduct remedial classes for students of Classes 9, 10, and 12 during part of the vacation period.

According to the official notification issued by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, the special academic sessions will be organized between May 11 and May 23, depending on the availability of teachers in individual schools.
Focus on Learning Improvement
The remedial classes are intended to strengthen subject understanding and improve academic performance among students requiring additional support.
Authorities have instructed government schools to conduct these sessions on campus wherever feasible. The Education Department said schools should particularly focus on students needing academic assistance before the next academic phase.
For Classes 9 and 10, schools have been advised to prioritize Science and Mathematics during the remedial sessions.
However, principals and heads of schools may include additional subjects depending on academic performance analysis, student requirements, and teacher availability.
For Class 12 students, school authorities have been given flexibility to decide subjects based on academic needs.
Timings and Period Schedule
The Delhi government has prescribed separate reporting schedules for teachers and students during the remedial classes. Teachers will attend school from 7:20 AM to 11:00 AM, while students will attend classes from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
The timetable will include three one-hour periods:
Guidelines for Schools and Parents
School heads have been directed to prepare detailed remedial class schedules before the start of the summer break and submit them to the respective Deputy Director of Education zones.
The administration has also instructed schools to notify students and parents through available communication channels regarding the classes.
As per the guidelines, students attending remedial sessions must wear school uniforms, and their attendance will be marked online. Schools have also been asked to obtain parental consent or No Objection Certificates before allowing students to participate.
The government said teachers should provide individual academic attention to students to ensure visible improvement in learning outcomes.
Additional Instructions for Schools
Authorities have further directed schools to keep library facilities open during the remedial class period for self-study and book access.
School administrations have been asked to ensure the availability of clean drinking water and other essential facilities on campus during the vacation classes.
The notification also permits schools to engage guest or contractual teachers if required for conducting remedial sessions.
In addition, the Education Department stated that regular staff and teachers assigned duty during the summer vacation period should be granted earned leave in accordance with existing rules.
