The Ministry of Home Affairs has implemented a policy that awards honorary rank promotions to retiring members of CAPFs and Assam Rifles from Constable to Sub-Inspector

The Honorary Rank Promotion Scheme is a recognition program by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It grants a one-rank elevated honorary title to retiring members of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, from Constable to Sub-Inspector level.

Coverage: Pertains to all qualified CAPF and Assam Rifles members below officer level.
Timing: Granted on the retirement day.
Nature: No monetary or retirement advantages included.
Category Constraint: Only relevant if the rank to be awarded is present within the organization's structure of the service.
Seniority: Does not change the existing seniority hierarchy of staff.
