Honorary rank promotions from Constable to Sub-Inspector are given to retiring members of the CAPF and Assam Rifles : Ministry of Home Affairs

The Honorary Rank Promotion Scheme is a recognition program by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It grants a one-rank elevated honorary title to retiring members of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, from Constable to Sub-Inspector level.

Aim:

• To enhance the morale, dignity, and self-esteem of departing security staff.
• To recognize extensive and praiseworthy service without changing financial benefits.
• To acknowledge commitment and honesty via symbolic advancement.

Main Attributes:

Ministry: Ministry of Internal Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

Coverage: Pertains to all qualified CAPF and Assam Rifles members below officer level.

Timing: Granted on the retirement day.

Nature: No monetary or retirement advantages included.

Category Constraint: Only relevant if the rank to be awarded is present within the organization's structure of the service.

Seniority: Does not change the existing seniority hierarchy of staff.

Criteria for Eligibility:

• Employees must meet all promotion requirements at the time of retirement.
• Should possess a spotless record with no significant disciplinary actions in the past five years.
• The Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) from the past 5 years must be evaluated as a minimum of 'Good.'
• Integrity certification must be indisputable.
• Approval from departmental investigations and oversight is required.
• Approval from the commanding officer is necessary.
