Negotiations aim to reduce tariffs, enhance market access, and boost bilateral trade and investment

India and the European Union have resumed negotiations for a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA) after a period of pause. The renewed talks aim to strengthen economic cooperation and expand trade between the two major economies.
The negotiations focus on reducing tariffs on goods and improving market access for businesses on both sides. Discussions are also addressing modern trade issues such as digital commerce, sustainability standards, and the services sector.

Officials from both sides have emphasised the importance of reaching a balanced agreement that supports economic growth while protecting key domestic industries. The talks also aim to address regulatory barriers and promote smoother trade flows.
The European Union is one of India’s largest trading partners, and the proposed agreement is expected to significantly enhance bilateral trade. Experts believe that a successful FTA could boost exports, attract foreign investment, and deepen economic cooperation between India and European countries.
