The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the application process for the Joint Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR UGC NET) December 2026 session.
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website, csirnet.nta.nic.in. The examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across the scheduled dates.

The application window will remain open until Nov 5, 2026, up to 11:50 p.m. The deadline for successful payment of the examination fee is also Nov 5. Candidates who submit their applications after the prescribed deadline will have to pay a late fee of ₹500.
The application correction facility will be available from Nov 10 to Nov 12. Candidates will be able to make corrections to their application forms during this period.
The CSIR UGC NET December 2026 examination is scheduled for Dec 9, 22 and 27. The three-hour test will be conducted in two shifts, from 9 am to 12 noon and from 3 pm to 6 pm. The question paper will be provided in both English and Hindi.

The NTA has advised candidates to enter their details carefully and upload the required documents correctly while completing the application process.
Candidates have also been asked to avoid rushing through the form and ensure that their applications are submitted within the prescribed timeline.
The CSIR UGC NET is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to doctoral programs in Indian universities and colleges.
The examination also provides eligibility for candidates seeking admission to doctoral programs only.

The testing agency has advised applicants to regularly check the NTA website for updates related to the examination.
