The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will screen a 30-minute sensitisation and orientation module on Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) for school staff on October 7, 2026.

The initiative, developed in pursuance of directives from the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, seeks to help school personnel better understand the needs, challenges and requirements of Children with Special Needs and foster a more empathetic and inclusive school environment.

CBSE has asked all affiliated schools to facilitate the screening and ensure maximum participation of their teaching and non-teaching staff.

The module is designed not only for teachers but for everyone who plays a role in the daily functioning of a school. Participants will include aayahs, drivers, clerical staff, receptionists, deans, wardens, heads of schools and other support personnel.

Programme details

  • Module: 30-minute module on Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs (CwSN)
  • Date: October 7, 2026
  • Access: prashast.education.gov.in
  • Participants: All teaching and non-teaching staff, including support personnel

CBSE has advised schools to organise the screening in a way that allows staff members to participate without affecting essential school activities.

The sensitisation programme forms part of the PRASHAST screening initiative being undertaken during the current academic year to identify students with probable disabilities and facilitate timely intervention.

The board said staff sensitisation is an important part of the initiative, as the school environment plays a crucial role in ensuring that children with special needs receive appropriate, respectful and inclusive support.

CBSE also said that data on the number of schools viewing the module will be visible at the national level. It has urged principals and heads of affiliated schools to ensure maximum staff participation and extend full cooperation for effective implementation.

The board said the initiative is aimed at strengthening a school culture that is more inclusive, accessible and supportive of Children with Special Needs.
