CBSE opens Class 12 supplementary exam 2026 registration, LOC submission begins

CBSE has begun accepting registrations for the Class 12 Supplementary Examination 2026, with affiliated schools required to submit the online List of Candidates (LOC) between June 30 and July 8 through the Pariksha Sangam portal on the board's official website.

The board has clarified that regular students cannot register on their own. Instead, eligible candidates must contact the schools through which they appeared for the CBSE Class 12 Board Examinations 2026, as only schools are authorized to complete the LOC submission.

CBSE has also instructed schools to actively reach out to eligible students so that no candidate is left out of the registration process.

As per the official schedule, the Class 12 Supplementary Examination will be held on July 28, 2026.

CBSE has allowed three groups of students to appear for the supplementary examination. Students placed in the Compartment category in the 2026 board examinations are eligible to take their first compartment attempt.

Those who passed the main examination after replacement of subject(s) may register to improve their performance.

Students who have already passed the Class 12 board examinations can also seek improvement in one subject, provided that subject is included in the board's notified list.

Candidates appearing for their third compartment attempt are excluded from the school-based registration process. They must apply separately as private candidates in accordance with the notification issued by CBSE.

The board has directed affiliated schools to upload the names of all students placed in the Compartment category, regardless of whether the school has been able to contact them.

It has warned that failure to submit a student's LOC within the prescribed period will result in the student losing the opportunity to appear in this year's supplementary examination.

Schools have also been instructed to inform compartment students about their eligibility and assist students who intend to improve their marks in one subject. CBSE has made schools responsible for completing the registration process within the deadline.

Students who appeared as regular candidates and were placed in the Compartment category may take the supplementary examination only in the subject in which they received the compartment.

Those who appeared in six subjects and were placed under compartment in two subjects can choose either one of the two papers for the supplementary examination.

Students who took six subjects and passed after subject replacement but failed in one paper are permitted to appear in that failed subject under the Improvement of Performance category, provided the board is conducting the examination for that subject.

Candidates who successfully passed the 2026 Class 12 board examinations may also improve their score in any one subject they had appeared for during the main examination, subject to the availability of that paper in the supplementary schedule.

The online LOC submission window will remain open until July 8.

The examination fee has been fixed at ₹320 per subject for schools in India, ₹1,100 per subject for schools in Nepal, and ₹2,200 per subject for schools located outside India.

CBSE has further stated that a consolidated marksheet will be issued only to students whose result in the 2026 main examination was declared as Compartment and who later qualify in the Supplementary Examination 2026.

According to the notification, students can reappear in any of the 90 subjects listed by the board. The complete subject-wise list is available on the official CBSE website.
