Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings on Chartered Accountants' Day to the entire CA fraternity and said that they have long been trusted partners in India's economic journey.
PM Modi took to social media 'X' and said, "Greetings on Chartered Accountants' Day to the entire CA fraternity. They have long been trusted partners in India's economic journey. Through their commitment to transparency and professional excellence, they strengthen our financial systems, support businesses, encourage entrepreneurship and inspire confidence among investors."

"Their expertise contributes significantly to economic growth and nation-building. As we move towards becoming a Viksit Bharat, their efforts help create an environment where enterprise can flourish and opportunities can expand for all," he said.
Every year on July 1, India observes Chartered Accountants Day to recognise the invaluable contribution of Chartered Accountants in strengthening the country's financial system, ensuring transparency, and promoting economic growth. More than just financial experts, CAs serve as trusted advisors who help businesses navigate complex regulations, maintain compliance, and achieve sustainable growth.
In 2026, the significance of CA Day is even greater as the financial landscape continues to transform through digitalisation, automation, GST reforms, and increasing global integration. The profession demands exceptional integrity, analytical skills, accuracy, and dedication, making Chartered Accountants an indispensable pillar of India's economy.
From auditing and taxation to financial planning, risk management, and business advisory services, Chartered Accountants play a vital role across industries. Although much of their work takes place behind the scenes, their contribution is critical to the smooth functioning of businesses and institutions. CA Day provides an opportunity to acknowledge their professionalism, commitment, and service to the nation.
The foundation of the profession in India dates back to July 1, 1949, when the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) was established through an Act of Parliament. Created even before the Constitution of India came into force, the ICAI is one of the country's oldest professional institutions. Today, it is the world's second-largest professional accounting body in terms of membership, representing more than 2.5 lakh Chartered Accountants.
The ICAI is the country's statutory body responsible for regulating the profession of chartered accountancy and granting the prestigious CA qualification. It plays a key role in setting accounting and auditing standards, with its guidance followed by organisations ranging from the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) to corporate entities and accounting firms across India.
Every year, July 1 is celebrated as the ICAI Foundation Day, also known as Chartered Accountants Day, to honour the institution's legacy and the professionals who continue to uphold the highest standards of financial accountability and ethics.
