A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud was hearing a suo motu writ petition registered in 2020 based on a complaint by Maharajganj resident Manoj Tibrewal Aakash, whose house was demolished in 2019. CJI said walking into somebody’s house and demolishing it without notice is lawlessness.
