On Monday, the Ministry of Home Affairs notified the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which grants Indian citizenship to certain religious groups fleeing religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. These groups include Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians. The Act does not apply to Muslims.

According to sources, the restructured Cabinet is expected to exclude representatives from the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP).
