Uttar Pradesh: Domestic help found dead at SP MLA Zahid Beg's residence

An 18-year-old girl who worked as a domestic help for Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Zahid Beg was found hanging in a room on the terrace of the his house in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district on Sep 10.

Bhadohi Superintendent of Police, Meenakshi Katyayan said the victim died by suicide and investigations are ongoing.

"The post-mortem proceedings are being carried out. An investigation is underway to determine what caused the victim to take the drastic step," Katyayan added.

All possible angles will be looked into to determine the cause of the suicide. Why she hanged herself is a matter of investigation, said Katyayan.

The girl was working for the past many years at Beg's house and her family resides in Kanshiram Housing in Mamdev area, circle officer Ajay Kumar Chauhan said.

“The girl did not wake up in the morning, and MLA's family found the door locked from inside. The girl was found hanging from the ceiling. Police broke the door, took out the body, and sent it for post-mortem,” added Chauhan.

The forensic team is also investigating every aspect of the case. A panel of two doctors will do the post-mortem of the body and will be videographed, according to Chauhan.
