Home Ministry warns states of possible communal tensions after Middle East conflict escalation, while security forces tighten measures and impose internet curbs in Kashmir as a precaution against unrest.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a cautionary alert to all state governments amid rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly following the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
Authorities nationwide have been urged to stay vigilant and take necessary preventive measures to maintain peace and prevent communal tensions from spilling into India.

In its advisory, the MHA highlighted the possibility of communal flare-ups, misinformation, and law-and-order challenges that may arise in light of the foreign conflict, asking state officials to closely monitor local situations and prepare for prompt action if required.
Local administrations have been told to step up intelligence sharing and be alert to any signs of unrest triggered by developments abroad.
As a precautionary step, authorities in the Kashmir Valley have tightened security and imposed internet restrictions to help forestall any unrest that may arise due to the ongoing geopolitical situation. In some areas, mobile internet speeds have been throttled, and additional security forces have been deployed to sensitive locations to prevent any escalation of tensions.
Protests have been reported in Srinagar and other parts of the valley following news from abroad, prompting local administrators to take these measures to maintain law and order.
Some schools and colleges in the region have also been temporarily closed as part of the precautionary steps to ensure safety and prevent large gatherings.
The alert comes amid a backdrop of intensifying conflict in the Middle East, where joint US–Israeli military actions and retaliatory operations by Iran have raised global concerns.
The Indian government has been urging all parties in the conflict to exercise restraint and to prioritise diplomacy over escalation. In related developments, the External Affairs Ministry has called for respect for sovereignty and the safety of civilians in the region.
India is also actively monitoring the safety of its citizens in Gulf countries, with embassies issuing travel advisories and contact information for those in affected areas.
Thousands of Indian expatriates and students remain in Iran and other Gulf states, prompting government and diplomatic efforts to ensure their security.
