A controversy has erupted in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district after BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi allegedly confronted a police officer over action taken against his son, who was booked for hitting five people with an SUV.

A political controversy has erupted in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district after a video surfaced showing BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi allegedly warning a police officer over action taken against his son in a road accident case.
The incident relates to an April 16 crash in Karera area, where the MLA’s son, Dinesh Lodhi, is accused of ramming a Mahindra Thar SUV into five people, including pedestrians and motorcycle riders.

According to the FIR, the vehicle first hit two women walking along the road and then collided with a motorcycle carrying three men, leaving all five injured.
The controversy intensified after a video of the MLA went viral, in which he is seen confronting Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Ayush Jakhad over remarks made to his son during the investigation. In the clip, Lodhi questions the officer’s authority and says, “If your daddy has the guts, let him try to stop him,” referring to his son’s return to the area.
The MLA also warned against what he described as a “biased” investigation, saying there would be consequences if police acted unfairly or exerted undue pressure.
The incident marks a shift from Lodhi’s earlier stance, when he had publicly said that the law should take its course and that the public interest comes first.
Police have registered a case against Dinesh Lodhi under provisions related to rash and negligent driving, and an investigation is underway.
The episode has triggered political backlash and raised concerns over alleged pressure on law enforcement in handling cases involving individuals linked to public representatives.
