Family claims he expressed distress hours earlier, alleges domestic discord as probe continues.

A 30-year-old judicial officer was found dead inside the bathroom of his south Delhi residence, with investigators probing the circumstances even as preliminary findings point to suspected suicide.
The deceased, Aman Kumar Sharma, was serving as Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in North-East Delhi at Karkardooma Court, a posting confirmed by the Karkardooma Bar Association.

According to police sources, a PCR call was received at Safdarjung Enclave police station at around 13:45 on May 3. The call was made by the deceased’s brother-in-law, who informed authorities that Sharma had died by suicide inside the bathroom of his Green Park residence.
Police teams reached the spot soon after and found Sharma inside the locked bathroom. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Initial findings suggest death by hanging, though officials said no signs of foul play have emerged so far and all angles remain under investigation.
Family members have alleged that Sharma had been under mental stress linked to domestic issues over the past two months. Quoting his father, relatives said Sharma had called him around 22:00 on May 2, expressing deep distress and saying it had become “difficult to live.”
The father, who was in Alwar, reached Delhi around midnight. According to the family’s account, Sharma had alleged mental harassment at home and claimed his wife exercised complete control over household matters.
The family also alleged that attempts to contact the wife’s parents were unsuccessful, with their number reportedly blocked. A relative from her side was called to intervene but later declined involvement.
The father’s account further points to a heated argument inside the house hours before the incident. Sharma was in one room while his wife was in another.
“She was speaking loudly and Aman was crying,” a relative said, citing the father’s statement.
When Sharma could not be located later, calls to his phone reportedly rang from inside the bathroom.
The bathroom door was eventually accessed by breaking a window, after which Sharma was found hanging, allegedly using a piece of cloth.
Sharma had joined the Delhi Judicial Service in June 2021 after completing his law degree from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, in 2018. During his tenure, he handled both civil and criminal matters and had been serving as full-time Secretary of the DLSA in Karkardooma since October 2025.
The body has been sent for postmortem, and police are recording statements from family members and close associates to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Officials said the exact cause behind the suspected suicide is yet to be established. Further findings are awaited as the investigation continues.
