UGC-NET June 2026 re-examination begins for 3 subjects, check exam schedule and guidelines

The re-examination for three UGC-NET June 2026 subjects begins Sept 9, with candidates appearing for the English and Commerce papers. The Sociology paper will be held on Sept 10.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) scheduled the re-test after an expert committee found factual, typographical, translation and language-related errors in the question papers. The review also found that several questions had been repeated from earlier examinations.

The English examination will take place from 9 am to 12 noon, followed by the Commerce paper from 3 pm to 6 pm. Sociology candidates will appear from 9 am to 12 noon on Sept 10.

Candidates have been advised to verify the details on their admit cards and arrive at their allotted centers well ahead of the reporting time.

NTA has also issued a travel advisory for candidates appearing in Delhi, asking them to plan their journeys in advance due to anticipated traffic restrictions associated with the BRICS Summit.

The English paper is scheduled for the first shift on Sept 9, from 9 am to 12 noon. The Commerce examination will be conducted in the second shift from 3 pm to 6 pm.

The Sociology paper will be held on Sept 10 in the first shift, from 9 am to 12 noon.

Under NTA's examination guidelines, candidates are advised to report two hours before the examination begins to complete frisking, registration and other mandatory procedures. The registration desk will close 30 minutes before the start of the examination.

Accordingly, morning-shift candidates should generally reach their centers by around 7 am, while Commerce candidates should plan to arrive by around 1 pm. However, candidates must follow the reporting time specified on their individual admit cards.

Candidates should carry the required documents and verify their examination details before leaving for the center. These include:

• A printed copy of the UGC-NET admit card
• A valid original photo identity proof
• Passport-size photographs, if required under the examination instructions
• PwD/PwBD certificate, wherever applicable
• Any other document specifically listed on the admit card or undertaking

Candidates should check the examination date, shift, reporting time and center address printed on their admit cards to avoid confusion on exam day.

Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices and other electronic gadgets should not be carried into the examination center.

Candidates should read all instructions on their admit cards and comply with directions issued by examination-center staff during frisking and identity verification.

Since the examination is being conducted as a re-test for the affected subjects, candidates should also confirm that the subject displayed on their computer matches the subject they opted for. Any discrepancy should be reported to the invigilator immediately.

The re-examination will be conducted without any additional fee for candidates affected by the paper-related issues. The examination schedule for the remaining 84 subjects will remain unchanged.
