The initiative introduces AI-enabled learning tools, an interactive digital whiteboard and upgraded systems for student records, mentoring, lesson planning, classroom monitoring and cyber safety.

The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has launched the ‘Tharapadham’ project across government schools to integrate the state’s digital education platforms and introduce artificial intelligence-based facilities.
KITE, the technical arm of the General Education department, is implementing the project under the state government’s 100-day action plan to improve the quality of public education.

The initiative will modernize the digital systems used by the General Education department by bringing them onto a unified platform and expanding their capabilities through artificial intelligence, according to a statement.
Users will be able to access platforms including Sampoorna, Sampoorna Plus, Sahitham, Samagra and Samanwaya through a single sign-on integrated dashboard instead of logging into each system separately.
KITE Chief Executive Officer K Anvar Sadath said the project also introduces ‘Samagra Canvas’, an online interactive digital whiteboard for teachers handling Classes 1 to 12.
The upgraded ‘Sampoorna Plus’ portal will maintain comprehensive data from government and aided schools as well as CBSE, ICSE, Kendriya Vidyalayas and recognized unaided schools across Kerala.
The portal will enable schools to record student attendance, examination scores and co-curricular assessment details for Classes 1 to 12.
The digital learning repository ‘Samagra’ has been upgraded with artificial intelligence features and renamed ‘Samagra Plus.' It will provide digital learning resources for classroom use.
Samagra Plus will also enable teachers of Classes 1 to 10 to prepare teaching manuals according to their scheme of work. Headteachers will be able to review and approve the manuals through the platform.
The upgraded platform will include facilities to record classroom observation notes, inspection reports submitted by education officers and decisions taken by School Resource Groups. Monitoring functions will also extend to the state level.
The mentoring portal 'Sahitham,' developed to provide students with individualized attention and academic support, has been updated according to the revised textbooks.
The director of General Education has issued a circular directing all schools to actively use the digital facilities available through the project.
Schools will be required to record mentoring activities and the learning progress of students in Classes 1 to 7 on the portal from the current academic year as part of the Tharapadham project.
The circular also directs school authorities to strictly comply with the ‘Cyber Safety Protocol 2026,' including the formation of cyber safety committees at the school level.
District and sub-district education officers have been instructed to ensure the timely implementation of Tharapadham in their respective jurisdictions.
KITE will conduct specialized training sessions for teachers and education officers as part of the project rollout, Sadath added.
