An unidentified person allegedly threw a sutli bomb from the Ashok Rajpath double-decker bridge into the university campus, prompting a forensic examination and a police probe into the incident.

While Teachers' Day celebrations were underway across the country, panic briefly gripped Patna University after a sutli bomb (crude bomb) was allegedly thrown into the campus on Sep 5.
According to preliminary information, an unidentified person hurled the crude firecracker from the double-decker bridge on Ashok Rajpath into the university campus area between the Geography and Psychology departments.

The explosion caused a loud noise and smoke, triggering brief panic among students and staff.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, Pirbahore police reached the spot and inspected the area.
No casualties have been reported so far.
The police called in a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to examine the site and collect evidence related to the explosion.
The forensic team secured the area and began its investigation.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area, particularly cameras covering the double-decker bridge, in an effort to identify the person who allegedly threw the bomb.
Investigators are also trying to determine the motive behind the incident and whether it was linked to any personal dispute or another reason.
Police officials said that no information regarding a dispute among students had emerged so far.
Pirbahore police station Station House Officer Rajkumar Singh said that police received information that a miscreant had thrown a sutli bomb from the double-decker bridge into the area between the Geography and Psychology departments between 12:08 p.m. and 12:10 p.m.
"Police reached the spot immediately after the blast and initiated necessary action. The FSL team has been called, and CCTV footage is being examined," the SHO added.
He said that the investigation was underway and further action would be taken based on the evidence collected.
The latest incident has also raised concerns about security arrangements on the Patna University campus.
Similar incidents involving explosions have been reported on the campus in the past, including during periods surrounding university elections.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify the person responsible and establish the circumstances behind the incident.
“Except for the headline, no changes have been made to the story by Education Post staff.”
