The computer-based entrance test will be held on Nov 1, with 200 questions to be attempted in three hours for admission to participating medical institutes.

AIIMS New Delhi has started the registration process for the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) January 2027 session, opening the postgraduate admission process for medical and dental candidates seeking seats at participating Institutes of National Importance.
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official AIIMS examination portal, aiimsexams.ac.in. The registration window will close on Oct 13, 2026, at 5 pm.

The INI-CET January 2027 examination is scheduled for Nov 1, 2026, and will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode.
Courses and participating institutes
The entrance examination is held for admission to postgraduate programs including MD, MS, six-year DM, six-year MCh, MDS and MD in Hospital Administration.

The admission process covers postgraduate seats at several Institutes of National Importance, including AIIMS New Delhi and other AIIMS institutes, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, PGIMER Chandigarh and SCTIMST Thiruvananthapuram.
Eligibility criteria
For MD, MS, six-year DM, six-year MCh and MD in Hospital Administration, candidates must hold an MBBS degree from a recognized university or an NMC-recognized medical college.
Applicants must also have completed the required one-year compulsory rotatory internship and possess the necessary internship completion certificate.
For MDS, candidates must have a BDS degree and meet the internship and registration requirements specified in the official prospectus.
For Indian nationals who completed their medical or dental education in India, candidates belonging to the General, OBC and EWS categories must have secured at least 55% aggregate marks in all professional MBBS or BDS examinations. The minimum requirement for SC and ST candidates is 50%.
Candidates must also hold provisional or permanent registration with the National Medical Commission, Dental Council of India or the relevant state medical or dental council, as applicable.

INI-CET 2027 exam pattern
The examination will be conducted as a computer-based test with 200 objective-type questions. Candidates will have three hours, or 180 minutes, to complete the paper.
Each correct response will carry one mark, while one-third of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Unattempted questions will receive zero marks.
The question paper will be divided into four sections, with 50 questions and 45 minutes allotted to each section. Candidates will only be able to view and answer questions in the section that is active during its allotted time.
How to apply
Candidates can complete the application process through the AIIMS examination website by following these steps:
Step 1: Visit aiimsexams.ac.in.
Step 2: Generate the required registration or One-Time Registration (OTR) details.
Step 3: Complete the registration process and obtain the candidate ID and password.
Step 4: Log in using the credentials and fill out the INI-CET application form.
Step 5: Enter the required personal, academic and other details.
Step 6: Upload the required images and documents in the prescribed format.
Step 7: Select the examination center and pay the applicable application fee.
Step 8: Submit the completed application form and download the confirmation page for future reference.
Candidates should carefully verify all details before submitting the form and retain the application acknowledgement after submission.
