‘SARAL AI’ Uses Artificial Intelligence to Accelerate Research Commercialisation

The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) is adopting SARAL AI to make scientific research easier to discover, understand and share, particularly among students and the general public.
SARAL AI is an initiative of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) that converts research published in journals into engaging and accessible videos. The initiative aligns with the government's emphasis on using emerging technologies to improve the communication and wider dissemination of scientific research.

Minister of State for Science and Technology (Independent Charge) Dr Jitendra Singh has encouraged scientific institutions to adopt SARAL AI, with CSIR-NIScPR emerging as one of the leading organisations in its use.
During a recent visit to NIScPR, ANRF CEO Dr Shivkumar Kalyanaraman highlighted the potential of the tool to simplify complex research and communicate scientific findings to wider audiences.
“Research should not stop with publication,” Kalyanaraman said, emphasising that tools such as SARAL AI can help researchers and institutions take their work beyond academic papers and expand its reach and impact.
Under the leadership of CSIR-NIScPR Director Dr Geetha Vani Rayasam, the institute has been exploring emerging technologies and digital platforms to strengthen science communication.
As part of this effort, NIScPR recently organised a hands-on workshop on SARAL AI, bringing together more than 90 participants, including journal editors and researchers.
The initiative is expected to help transform technical research into formats that are easier for non-specialist audiences to understand, while improving the visibility and public impact of scientific work produced by Indian researchers and institutions.
