The meeting, chaired by Brazil in Brasília, was organized under the theme 'Enhancing Cooperation among the Global South for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance'.

Key Aspects of the Declaration Supported by: ILO for the promotion of labor rights. The declaration pledges that BRICS nations will: Foster inclusive AI policies that harmonize innovation with worker protection. Promote social dialogue to facilitate equitable climate transitions. Enhance South-South collaboration on labor governance, digital inclusion, and the creation of green jobs.
Importance of the declaration for workers: Utilizing AI for Decent Work: Ensuring equitable access to AI involves giving workers a voice through substantial social dialogue.
BRICS countries are in a unique position to influence the necessary transformations regarding the rights-based application of AI in the workplace through South-South cooperation. (ILO)
Just Transition - Green Jobs, Inclusive Policies: 1.2 billion livelihoods are at risk due to ecosystem collapse; 2.4 billion workers face hazardous heat conditions.
Universal Social Protection: The protection gap is increasingly widening, particularly for platform workers lacking a safety net, with 83 percent of individuals lacking even basic coverage.
Drive for Social Justice: The ILO is committed to supporting BRICS through the Global Coalition for Social Justice, providing normative guidance, research, and technical assistance.
