The Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, announces the call for nominations for the 2024 UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts (ICM) for Youth Development and Engagement.
UNESCO invites nominations from individuals, groups, or organizations who have made significant contributions to youth development and engagement through martial arts activities. Applications should be forwarded to the INCCU no later than April 30th, 2024.

The INCCU will review and forward the nominations to UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, for further consideration. This initiative aims to recognize and honor those dedicated to harnessing the power of martial arts for the betterment of youth worldwide.

Article 1: Purpose
The Regulations outline the criteria and procedures for selecting the recipient of the UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Education Prize. This prize, administered by the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement (ICM), recognizes individuals, groups, or organizations contributing significantly to youth and women's development through martial arts activities.
Article 2: Definition
The Prize acknowledges contributions to youth and women's development through martial arts training activities, as determined by the selection criteria under Article 3.
Article 3: Qualification of Candidates
Candidates are selected by the Prize Selection and Screening Committee based on various qualifications, including aiding underprivileged youth, promoting women's rights, creating safe communities, and fostering self-reliance in the socially-underprivileged through martial arts education.
Article 4: Announcement of the Prize, Nomination of Candidates, etc.
The Secretary General of ICM publishes the "Announcement of Selection of the Prize Winner" annually on the ICM website, inviting nominations. Nominations may come from UNESCO organizations, governments, NGOs, or martial arts and sports organizations.
Article 5: Document Screening by the Working-level Screening Group
A working-level screening group evaluates nomination forms, ensuring the validity and authenticity of achievements and information provided. Supplementary materials may be requested from nominating organizations or candidates.
Article 6: Screening by the Screening Committee
The Screening Committee, comprising experts in martial arts, sports, youth- and women-related areas, education, and area studies, evaluates candidates and selects the winner(s) through majority vote.
Article 7: Presentation of Prize and Accompanying Rewards
The Prize includes a cash award of USD 10,000, a certificate, and a medal, presented annually at a ceremony determined by the ICM's business plan.
Article 8: Specific Matters
The Secretary General may determine additional specific matters necessary for enforcing these Regulations.
These regulations ensure a transparent and rigorous selection process for the UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Education Prize, promoting youth and women's empowerment through martial arts education worldwide.
