Assam Board announces HSLC 2026 re-admission deadline, issues fresh guidelines

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division I, has announced new rules for students who did not pass the HSLC 2026 examination, making re-admission to Class 10 mandatory for those planning to appear in the next board examination.

Under the revised guidelines, all eligible students must complete the re-admission process by August 14, 2026. The Board has instructed school heads to ensure admissions are completed within the deadline to avoid delays in the examination process.

Students whose previous schools are unable to readmit them may enroll in another school under the same examination center where they originally appeared for the HSLC examination.

ASSEB also clarified that re-admitted students will retain their existing registration number. No new registration number will be issued, and the current registration details will remain valid for future HSLC examinations.

The Board has allowed students to change their elective subject after re-admission, but only before the Class 10 half-yearly examination. Requests submitted after the half-yearly examination will not be considered.

The notification also outlines several academic requirements for re-admitted students.

Schools will be responsible for conducting practical examinations, completing internal assessments, and submitting the corresponding marks to ASSEB during the academic session.

Students must also appear for the Class 10 half-yearly examination. Those who do not take the exam will not be eligible to sit for the next HSLC board examination.

The Board has directed heads of institutions to closely monitor the attendance and academic progress of re-admitted students. Schools have also been asked to provide remedial classes whenever necessary to help students improve their performance before the board examination.

ASSEB has advised students and parents to regularly visit its official website for updates, notifications, and additional instructions related to the HSLC 2026 examination process.
