Nationwide campaign during India AI Impact Summit sees 2,50,946 participants commit to ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

The IndiaAI Mission, in collaboration with Intel India, has entered the Guinness World Records for collecting the highest number of pledges for responsible artificial intelligence use within a 24-hour period. The record was officially confirmed during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.
A total of 2,50,946 pledges were recorded during the digital campaign, significantly surpassing the initial target of 5,000 participants. The 24-hour drive was launched as part of the summit’s broader focus on ethical and human-centric AI development.

The pledge campaign aimed to build nationwide awareness about responsible AI practices, particularly among students and young citizens. Participants committed to principles including fairness, transparency, accountability, data privacy, safety and responsible innovation in the deployment of artificial intelligence technologies.
A Guinness World Records adjudicator formally verified and announced the achievement at the summit. Organisers said the scale of participation reflected growing public engagement with questions around AI ethics and governance at a time when artificial intelligence systems are rapidly expanding across sectors.
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said the initiative aligns with the government’s vision of developing AI that is inclusive, secure and aligned with democratic values.
He noted that India’s AI strategy focuses not only on innovation and capability building but also on safeguards and responsible use.
The digital pledge was conducted through an online portal and remained open for 24 hours. Participants who completed the commitment received digital certificates acknowledging their support for ethical AI practices.
The record marks one of the key highlights of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, which has brought together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, startups and students to discuss artificial intelligence innovation, regulation and global cooperation.
