The reality that MS Dhoni won't be playing indefinitely is a tough pill to swallow for Chennai Super Kings fans and Indian cricket enthusiasts alike. At the age of 42, IPL 2024 is likely Dhoni's final season as a player, and it's only natural that fans have been ecstatic every time he's come to bat this season.
During a match against Kolkata Knight Riders, when CSK lost their third wicket and needed seven runs from 19 balls to chase a below-average total at their home ground, Dhoni decided to enter the field. But not before he played a brief prank on the enthusiastic crowd at MA Chidambaram Stadium. As the stadium echoed with chants of "Dhoni, Dhoni," all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, fully padded and helmeted, emerged from the dressing room only to quickly turn back. Then, to an even louder cheer, Dhoni made his entrance.

The playful jest by "Thala" and Jadeja was well-received by the crowd. Tushar Deshpande, during the post-match discussion, revealed that it was Dhoni's idea to playfully deceive the crowd. "Dhoni bhai told Jaddu bhai, 'I'm going to bat, but you pretend like you're going out,'" shared Deshpande, unable to suppress his smile. "Dhoni just wanted to give them a sneak peek. Watching Mahi bhai bat is always a treat for the fans," added Ravindra Jadeja.
