Prime Minister Modi Witnesses 'Bharat Shakti' Exercise at Pokhran
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 'Bharat Shakti' exercise at the Pokhran firing range in a display of India's self-reliance in defence capabilities. The event, held in the vast expanse of Rajasthan's Thar Desert, showcased the might of the Indian military's indigenously developed arsenal.
The 'Bharat Shakti' exercise, a meticulously planned tri-service operation, spanned approximately 50 minutes, highlighting the synchronized firepower and strategic manoeuvres of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

This exercise was not just a demonstration of military strength but also a testament to India's advancements in defence technology and manufacturing.
Among the impressive array of equipment displayed were the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, known for its agility and precision; the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk-IV; and the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand, designed for high-altitude warfare. The exercise also featured a mobile anti-drone system, showcasing India's preparedness against emerging aerial threats.
The ground forces demonstrated their capabilities with the BMP-II armoured vehicles and their variants, the NAMICA (Nag Missile Carrier) equipped with anti-tank guided missiles, the formidable T90 tanks, the artillery power of the Dhanush howitzers, the K9 Vajra self-propelled guns, and the multi-barrel rocket launcher system Pinaka.
The 'Bharat Shakti' exercise was a clear indication of India's readiness to confront contemporary and future challenges with indigenous solutions. It highlighted the resilience, innovation, and strength of India's domestic defence capabilities on the global stage. The program exemplified the nation's strides towards self-reliance in defence, showcasing the might and operational prowess of the Indian armed forces and the ingenuity and commitment of the indigenous defence industry.
The event, set against the backdrop of Pokhran—synonymous with India's nuclear might following the tests in 1998—reaffirmed the country's commitment to maintaining a robust defence posture. The presence of the Prime Minister, along with top military brass, underscored the importance of the exercise in signalling India's strategic intentions and capabilities.
