At the start of a meeting with Putin at the BRICS Summit, Modi reiterated India’s commitment towards peace and stability and said all conflict can be resolved with dialogue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Oct 22 told Russian President Vladimir Putin that India believes in peaceful solutions to conflicts and is ready to help bring about a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Modi also reiterated India’s commitment towards peace and stability at the start of a meeting with Putin at the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan.

"We have been in touch with all sides in the Russia-Ukraine problem. It has always been our position that all conflict can be resolved with dialogue. We believe there should be peaceful solutions to conflicts. India is always ready to help bring peace," Modi was quoted as saying to the Russian president on the sidelines of the Summit.
He congratulated the success of the Brics grouping over the fact that many other nations wanted to join it.
The Summit of the informal group of states comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) is being held in Russia's Kazan from Oct 22 to 24 under Russia’s chairmanship.
Earlier Modi was warmly received at the Kazan airport by Rustam Minnikhanov, head of the Republic of Tatarstan.
"Landed in Kazan for the Brics summit. This is an important summit, and the discussions here will contribute to a better planet," Modi posted on X.
During the summit, Modi is likely to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, and hold bilateral talks with leaders from the other Brics member nations — Brazil, India, China, and South Africa.
In a statement before departing for Russia, PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to close cooperation within Brics, calling the platform a valuable forum for dialogue.
He highlighted the significance of Brics expansion last year, which welcomed new members, broadening its inclusivity and adding to its agenda for global progress.
“I look forward to extensive discussions on a wide range of subjects,” Modi said.
"Brics which has emerged as an important platform for dialogue and discussion on issues concerning the global developmental agenda, reformed multilateralism, climate change, economic cooperation, building resilient supply chains, promoting cultural and people to people connect," he added.
This marks his second visit to Russia this year, following his participation in the India-Russia Annual Summit in Moscow in July. The 16th Brics summit comes in the wake of ongoing global unrest, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Middle East crisis.
