Indore neighbourhood shaken as burglars cut electricity and loot office, raising fresh concerns over law and order.

In a chilling overnight incident, more than half a dozen masked men broke into the residence of Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari in the Bijalpur area of Rajendra Nagar, ransacking his home and office after cutting off electricity.
The audacious break-in occurred between 2:00 am and 4:30 am on the night of September 6. Police reports indicate the gang prowled through the neighbourhood for nearly two and a half hours, smashing drawers and lockers in Patwari’s home office. Grainy CCTV footage captures the masked intruders moving stealthily through the area.

Authorities are investigating the incident, with preliminary suspicion pointing to a gang of local burglars active in the region. The Madhya Pradesh Congress confirmed the attack on social media, describing it as a deliberate attempt to target the PCC chief.
“Late Friday night, miscreants attempted a robbery at the residence of Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari. The group, numbering more than five and wearing masks, ransacked Patwari Ji’s entire office with the intent of committing a major crime,” the party said.
The Congress also criticised the state government over security lapses, noting that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who also oversees the Indore district, has failed to ensure the PCC chief’s safety. “This is not the first attack. There have been at least five previous incidents targeting the PCC chief. Despite repeated demands for proper security, the BJP government remains careless and unconcerned,” the party alleged.
Police have launched a full-scale investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and gathering evidence to identify the culprits.
