In a chilling incident that underscores the rising tide of street violence in the capital, Asif Qureshi — cousin of Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi — was stabbed to death on August 7 night following a dispute over parking in southeast Delhi’s Nizamuddin area.
The 42-year-old victim was attacked just outside his home in Church Lane, Bhogal, after confronting two youths for blocking his main gate with their scooter.

Delhi Police have arrested the accused, identified as Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18), both residents of the same lane. According to investigators, the argument escalated when the teenagers refused to move their vehicle, culminating in one of them stabbing Asif in the chest with a sharp iron poker. The assault occurred around 10 p.m.
“Asif Qureshi sustained a fatal injury to the chest during the altercation,” confirmed Hemant Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast). “Both suspects were apprehended within hours and have been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and common intention.”
Asif, who ran a meat supply business, was married and lived on the ground floor of the residence where the incident unfolded. His uncle and Huma Qureshi’s father, Saleem Qureshi, demanded swift justice. “My nephew was attacked without provocation. We want the strictest punishment for the accused,” he said.
The tragic killing adds to a growing list of violent episodes rooted in mundane street disputes. In March, a similar altercation between two families over parking in northwest Delhi left one person dead and several others injured.
The police are continuing their investigation and plan to file a chargesheet once forensic and witness statements are compiled.
