Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the new fee structure, covering all state recruitment bodies, will ease financial pressure on candidates and promote equal access to government job opportunities across the state.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced that candidates appearing for state-level competitive examinations will now pay a uniform preliminary fee of ₹100, regardless of the recruiting commission or board.
The decision, which covers exams conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission, Bihar Staff Selection Commission, Bihar Technical Service Commission, Bihar Police Subordinate Service Commission, and the Central Constable Selection Board, also removes the fee for candidates appearing in the mains stage.

“This step will reduce the financial burden on aspirants and encourage wider participation in recruitment processes,” Kumar said in a post on X, adding that the change will directly benefit lakhs of young people seeking government jobs.
The Chief Minister emphasized that recruitment for government positions has been a priority for his administration, and standardizing fees is part of a broader effort to ensure fairness and accessibility.
He noted that varying fee structures in the past had drawn criticism, and the new policy reflects a commitment to equal opportunity.
By fixing the prelims fee and waiving the mains fee, the government aims to create a level playing field for all candidates.
Kumar also underlined that these measures are aligned with long-term goals of youth employment and building a secure future for Bihar’s younger generation.
With assembly elections approaching, the announcement is seen as a move that could resonate strongly with job aspirants, though concerns over delays in recruitment notifications and result declarations still remain.
