Cyclone Remal has left a trail of devastation killing at least 37 people in northeastern states including Mizoram that is reported to be the worst hit state..
Heavy rain and thunderstorms triggered by the cyclone have knocked down power lines and destroyed homes, forcing hundreds to take shelter in relief camps.

In Mizoram alone, at least 27 people have died, including 14 people, who were killed when a stone quarry collapsed on the outskirts of the capital Aizawl.
Additionally, in a district in Aizawl, a wall collapse led to the death of three members of a family.
Rescue and relief operations are underway, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed to assist in the efforts. Authorities have also issued alerts and warnings, urging residents to take necessary precautions as the region continues to recover from the cyclone's impact.
In Assam, four people died and 18 others were injured due to heavy rainfall and strong winds. Meanwhile, in Nagaland, four people dead and in Meghalaya two people have been reported dead with 500 others being injured. Tripura has not reported any casualties but 746 people have been forced to seek shelter in relief camps.
The bodies of 27 people have been recovered so far by relief teams, with the death toll likely to rise as search and rescue operations continue in the city.
Cyclone Remal made landfall near the coast of Bay of Bengal on May 27 with wind speeds reaching up to 135 kmph causing widespread damage in coastal areas of the state. Reportedly, 6 people were killed in West Bengal due to the cyclone, with 4 people being electrocuted.
Heavy rains triggered by the cyclone led to flooding in the streets of Kolkata. The storm led to power outages, with nearly 1 million people left without electricity.
