Family urges privacy as tributes pour in for the globe-trotting creator featured in Forbes India’s Top 100 Digital Stars.

Travel influencer Anunay Sood
Travel influencer Anunay Sood, one of India’s most recognisable digital creators, has died at the age of 32. The news, confirmed by his family through a statement on his official Instagram account on November 6, stunned millions of followers and content creators across the globe. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of our beloved Anunay Sood’s passing,” the family said in an emotional message. Requesting privacy, they added: “We ask for your understanding as we navigate this difficult time. We humbly request you to avoid gathering crowd near personal property. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. May his soul rest in peace.”

Speculation around his death had swirled online late on November 5, with many initially dismissing the rumours as yet another internet hoax. It was only after family confirmation that disbelief turned to grief, prompting an outpouring of condolences across platforms. “Can we all stop speculating? The truth will eventually come out,” one Reddit user urged as chatter intensified.
Tributes flooded social media soon after the announcement, with fans, fellow travel vloggers and industry colleagues sharing their sorrow. Just days earlier, Anunay had posted snapshots from his visit to Wynn Al Marjan Island in Las Vegas, writing: “Still can’t believe I spent the weekend surrounded by legends and dream machines.”
Sood, who built a massive community with over 1.4 million Instagram followers and 3.84 lakh YouTube subscribers, had uploaded more than 1,300 videos chronicling his travels across nearly 40 countries. His final upload — a feature on the lesser-seen side of Switzerland — went online two days before his death and had garnered around 30,000 views by the morning of November 6.
A three-time honouree on Forbes India’s Top 100 Digital Stars list, Sood was celebrated for his blend of adventure storytelling, automotive passion and cinematic travel content. His work has appeared in National Geographic India, Condé Nast Traveller India and Lonely Planet India. He also ran a digital and performance marketing firm based in Dubai.
As the digital creator community mourns a life cut tragically short, his family has reiterated its request for space and privacy — even as tributes continue to celebrate a storyteller whose journeys inspired millions.
