With poise and a pointed edge, Deepika Padukone has put to rest swirling social media chatter over her perceived silence on husband Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The actor responded directly to online speculation, making it clear that public support does not always need to be performative.

The controversy stemmed from an Instagram post questioning why Padukone had not openly celebrated the film’s success, even running a poll suggesting her silence could be a “calculated snub.” Stepping into the comments, the actor delivered a crisp rebuttal: “I watched it way before any of you did. Now who is the joke on?”—a remark that swiftly turned the narrative on its head.

Trolling meets pushback

Padukone’s absence from the celebratory social media buzz had triggered debate among fans, with some equating visibility online to endorsement. Her response, however, underscores a broader point—support, especially within personal relationships, isn’t always broadcast.

This isn’t the first time she has backed the film. Around its December 2025 release, Padukone had shared praise for the actioner on Instagram Stories, applauding the film and urging audiences to watch it. She also congratulated director Aditya Dhar along with the cast and crew.

At a pre-birthday meet-and-greet, the actor reiterated her pride in the film’s success, engaging with fans and beaming as audiences confirmed they had watched the movie.

₹1,000 crore milestone and record chase

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has emerged as one of Hindi cinema’s biggest commercial successes in recent years. The film has crossed the ₹1,000 crore nett mark in India, setting a new industry benchmark while maintaining a strong theatrical run.

By Day 20, it had overtaken Baahubali: The Conclusion, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, to become the second-highest-grossing film in India—trailing only Pushpa 2: The Rule, headlined by Allu Arjun.

With sustained momentum and massive scale, the film continues to challenge long-standing box office giants like Dangal, cementing its position among the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema.
