Advocate accuses Hyundai, dealers and brand ambassadors of cheating, conspiracy after SUV allegedly put family’s life at risk.

The Bharatpur police have registered an FIR against Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone — along with Hyundai and its local dealers — after a customer alleged that his new SUV was riddled with dangerous defects.
Advocate Kirti Singh, 50, filed the complaint at Mathura Gate police station, accusing the company and its brand ambassadors of cheating, criminal breach of trust, and conspiracy. Singh said he purchased a Hyundai Alcazar (2022 model) for ₹23.97 lakh from a Sonipat dealership, but the vehicle began showing serious technical faults soon after.

According to the FIR, Singh claimed the car vibrates dangerously and loses speed whenever he tries to accelerate or overtake, with the engine management system repeatedly flashing error alerts. “This has put my life and my family’s lives in jeopardy several times,” he alleged.
When he approached the dealership, Singh was told the defect was a manufacturing issue that could not be fully rectified. Temporary fixes failed, he said, and the recurring malfunctions caused both safety concerns and mounting financial strain as he continued to pay off his car loan.
Feeling “cheated” and “mentally and financially burdened,” Singh accused Hyundai and its representatives of knowingly selling him a faulty car. He further alleged that brand ambassadors Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone misled customers by endorsing the product.
The FIR has been filed under sections pertaining to cheating, criminal breach of trust, and conspiracy. Police are investigating the matter.
