Girls outperformed boys once again, while CBSE also announced the schedule for supplementary examinations and compartment candidates following the declaration of Class 12 board results.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the Class 12 board examination results on May 13, 2026, with the overall pass percentage recorded at 85.20%. The results showed a decline of 3.19 percentage points compared to last year’s 88.39%.
A total of 1,780,365 students registered for the examination this year, while 1,768,968 appeared and 1,507,109 successfully passed. The examinations were conducted between Feb 17 and April 10, 2026.

Students can access their marksheets through the official websites cbse.gov.in and results.cbse.nic.in. Digital scorecards are also available on DigiLocker and the UMANG app.

Girls Continue to Outperform Boys
Girls once again performed better than boys in the CBSE Class 12 results. This year, girls recorded a pass percentage of 88.86%, while boys registered 82.13%, creating a gap of 6.73 percentage points.
The trend has continued consistently over the last several years. In 2025, girls achieved a pass percentage of 91.64%, compared to 85.70% among boys. Around 18.5 lakh students appeared for the examination this year, including nearly 10.2 lakh boys and 8.3 lakh girls.

Regional Performance Across India
Trivandrum emerged as the top-performing CBSE region with a pass percentage of 95.62%. Chennai followed with 93.84%, while Bengaluru recorded 93.19%. Prayagraj registered the lowest regional pass percentage at 72.43%.
The Delhi regions also performed strongly. Delhi-West recorded a pass percentage of 92.34%, while Delhi-East achieved 91.73%. Combined together, the overall Delhi region pass percentage stood at 91.97%.
Foreign schools affiliated with CBSE recorded an overall pass percentage of 90.50%.
Top and Bottom Performing Regions
Trivandrum emerged as the top-performing CBSE region with a pass percentage of 95.62%, followed by Chennai at 93.84% and Bengaluru at 93.19%. Prayagraj recorded the lowest regional performance this year with a pass percentage of 72.43%.

How Students Can Check Results
Students can download their Class 12 marksheets by visiting cbse.gov.in or results.cbse.nic.in.
To access the scorecard, students need to enter their roll number, school number, admit card ID, date of birth, and security pin. The marksheets are also available through DigiLocker and the UMANG app.
Students using DigiLocker without APAAR-linked accounts can access results using their school code, roll number, and six-digit access code.
Students can access their CBSE Class 12 results through multiple official platforms, including the CBSE official website at cbse.gov.in, the results portal at results.cbse.nic.in, DigiLocker at digilocker.gov.in, and the UMANG platform at umang.gov.in.
Step-by-Step Process to Download Marksheet
Step 1: Visit the official CBSE websites at cbse.gov.in or results.cbse.nic.in.
Step 2: Click on the link titled “CBSE Class 12 Result 2026.”
Step 3: Enter the required details, including roll number, school number, admit card ID, date of birth, and security pin.
Step 4: Click on the submit button.
Step 5: View the result on the screen and download the marksheet for future reference.

Supplementary Exam Schedule Announced
Following the declaration of results, CBSE also announced the Class 12 supplementary examination schedule for the 2025-26 academic session. The supplementary examinations will be conducted on July 15, 2026, in a single-day format.
Around 163,800 students have been placed in the compartment category this year, higher than 129,095 students in 2025 and 122,170 students in 2024.
Students who passed the board examination but wish to improve their score in one subject will also be eligible to appear for the supplementary examination. The online submission process for the List of Candidates (LOC) will begin on June 2, 2026.
CBSE clarified that the LOC submission process will be entirely online, and no changes involving names or subjects will be allowed after final submission.

CBSE advised schools and students to follow the prescribed deadlines strictly, stating that no applications will be accepted after the closing date. A detailed circular regarding the supplementary examination process is expected shortly.
