RRB announces 1,688 NTPC undergraduate vacancies, applications open Oct 15

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced 1,688 vacancies under the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) Undergraduate recruitment for 2026. The recruitment drive will offer opportunities for candidates who have passed Class 12 to apply for posts including Trains Clerk, Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk Cum Typist and Junior Clerk Cum Typist.

The online application process will begin on October 15 and candidates can submit their applications until November 13. Applications will be accepted only through the official RRB recruitment portal.

The vacancies are being offered across the participating RRBs, and candidates appointed through the recruitment process may be posted anywhere in India.

RRB NTPC undergraduate vacancies

The recruitment drive covers the following posts:

• Trains Clerk
• Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk
• Accounts Clerk Cum Typist
• Junior Clerk Cum Typist

Candidates who meet the prescribed educational and other eligibility conditions can apply for the posts.

RRB NTPC salary

Candidates selected for the different posts will receive salaries under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

The initial pay will be ₹19,900 under Pay Level 2 and ₹21,700 under Pay Level 3, depending on the post.

RRB NTPC age limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age as on January 1, 2027, subject to the applicable age-relaxation rules.

RRB NTPC application fee

The application fee for candidates in the general category is ₹500, while candidates belonging to reserved categories will have to pay ₹250.

RRB NTPC selection process

The selection process will include:

• First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT)
• Second Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT)
• Document verification

Candidates will have to qualify at the respective stages of the recruitment process before appointment.

Aadhaar verification advised

RRB has advised candidates to verify their primary details through Aadhaar while submitting the online application. The board said this would help avoid inconvenience and delays that may arise from detailed scrutiny of applications that are not Aadhaar-verified.

For successful Aadhaar verification, the candidate's name and date of birth should match the details mentioned in the Class 10 pass certificate. Candidates have also been advised to ensure that their Aadhaar records contain their latest photograph and updated biometrics, including fingerprints and iris details.

Detailed notification and application

RRB said the terms and conditions, eligibility criteria, selection procedure and other recruitment requirements will be governed by the detailed notification.

The detailed notification will be published exclusively on the common RRB website, rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, where candidates can also access the webpages of individual Railway Recruitment Boards.

Eligible candidates should check the detailed notification carefully before submitting their applications once the registration window opens on October 15.
