The Selection Committee said recent Medical Counselling Committee updates apply only to All India Quota admissions, while future policy changes, if any, will be announced in advance.

The Tamil Nadu Selection Committee has announced that the state's MBBS and BDS counseling process for the 2026-27 academic session will continue under the existing framework, clarifying that recent changes introduced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) apply only to All India Quota (AIQ) admissions.
The clarification follows the MCC's introduction of revised AIQ counseling measures, including Freeze and Float options for candidates, online document verification for those choosing the Float option, and a digital system for seat resignation.

According to the Selection Committee, these changes will not impact Tamil Nadu's state counseling process for the current admission cycle.
The committee said the state's existing counseling mechanism already includes several features similar to those introduced by the MCC. Candidates upload their certificates during the application process, after which the documents undergo centralized verification.
Original certificates are verified only when candidates report to their allotted colleges to complete admission formalities.
It also reiterated that there will be no changes to the state's MBBS and BDS counseling procedure for the 2026-27 academic session.
The Selection Committee said any future decision to align the state's counseling process with national guidelines would be made only after evaluating what is in the best interest of students.
It added that any policy changes for future academic sessions would be announced well in advance to ensure clarity for candidates.
The committee also reminded candidates that requests to surrender or resign from an allotted seat must be submitted only through the official online counseling portal, and offline resignation requests will not be accepted.
Candidates have been advised to regularly check the official counseling portal for updates on counseling schedules, seat allotments, and other important announcements.
