The Union government has stepped up preparations for NEET UG 2026, with Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewing arrangements ahead of the examination scheduled for June 21.

The two ministers held a high-level meeting to assess logistical readiness, coordination between departments, and measures to ensure smooth conduct of the exam across the country.

The focus of the review was on ensuring a secure, transparent, and hassle-free examination process for candidates.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, full support will be extended to facilitate the safe and seamless conduct of NEET UG 2026 nationwide.

Officials said efforts are underway to minimize inconvenience to students and maintain uniform preparedness at all centers.

The ministries reiterated their commitment to ensuring a stress-free examination environment, with coordinated planning across central and state agencies.

In a separate review on June 9 at the National Testing Agency headquarters, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan assessed preparations for the NEET UG re-examination.

He said multiple safeguards have been introduced to ensure transparency and timely completion of the process.

“We will bring out the exam results at the right time so that the learning time loss is not too much. I would like to reassure the students, you all should focus on your studies,” Pradhan said.

The re-examination, scheduled for June 21, is being conducted amid ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities and a reported paper leak linked to the examination process.

Pradhan said the Central Bureau of Investigation is actively probing the matter and expressed confidence in the agency’s findings.

“The CBI is getting to the bottom of the paper leak case. I have full faith in the CBI to uncover the details of the irregularities that occurred. I have requested the CBI to take the strictest possible action against those found guilty and apprehended and to ensure a speedy trial in a fast-track court,” he said.

He added that the National Testing Agency is being strengthened with additional personnel and improved systems.

According to him, senior officials will continue to review preparedness, including an upcoming meeting led by the Union Home Secretary.

Pradhan said discussions have also taken place with Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Health Minister JP Nadda, while the Finance Ministry is also monitoring arrangements.

States have been instructed to account for local weather conditions and logistical challenges, and district authorities have been directed to ensure all necessary facilities at exam centers.

The exam is expected to be conducted across 551 cities. “All agencies are performing their duties. I am confident that the examination will be conducted across 551 cities this time. We assure the students that the examination will be conducted without any errors,” he said.

Reiterating the government’s assurance, he said results will be declared on time to avoid disruption to the academic calendar.

“We had earlier assured students that we would conduct an error-free examination, and I want to assure them once again. We will also ensure that the results are declared on time,” he said.

He urged candidates not to be distracted by the ongoing investigation and to focus on their preparation.

“I want to tell the students, focus on your studies. We will conduct the re-NEET smoothly and without errors. Please cooperate with us,” he said.

Pradhan also said during his review at the NTA headquarters that the examination will be conducted in a transparent and error-free manner.

“I want to reassure students and their parents that we will conduct the re-examination without any flaws or loopholes,” he said.

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 pm.
