Bihar Police issues advisory against fraud ahead of NEET UG 2026 retest

Bihar Police has warned students and parents against falling for rumors, fake calls, and online scams related to the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.

In an advisory issued on June 9, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) said cyber fraudsters and anti-social elements may attempt to mislead candidates by offering purported question papers, answer sheets, or other examination material in exchange for money.

"Public is advised not to fall prey to misinformation and fraud calls by cyber fraudsters luring them to provide answer sheets/question papers in the upcoming NEET-UG examination on June 21," the police said in a notice.

The EOU said there are concerns that some individuals may try to spread false information through social media and other communication channels to compromise the integrity of the examination. The public has been urged to promptly report any such misinformation to law enforcement authorities.

The National Testing Agency has scheduled the NEET UG 2026 re-examination for June 21 after the original test, held on May 3, was canceled following allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is currently probing the case.

The police warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone involved in examination-related fraud.

"Those found guilty of engaging in such activities will face severe consequences, including legal actions. A criminal proceeding will be initiated against those who indulge in such activities", the advisory said.

The EOU has been investigating several examination fraud cases in Bihar. Earlier, it arrested Sanjeev Kumar Singh, alias Sanjeev Mukhiya, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind the NEET UG 2024 paper leak case and is wanted in multiple other cases.

He is also accused of involvement in the Bihar Public Service Commission's Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-3) paper leak case from March 2024.

The advisory asked people to immediately inform the EOU if they receive suspicious calls or offers claiming access to examination material.

"If the people receive any suspicious offers or requests from any individual/agency, the matter should be immediately brought to the notice of EOU through email ([email protected]). People can also inform the EOU about such calls on the mobile number 9031829067," the notice said.

The EOU has issued similar warnings for candidates appearing in the Bihar Home Guards clerk recruitment examination from June 10 to June 12 and the constable recruitment examination from June 14 to June 17.
