Each unit will receive ₹70 lakh, with focus on improving infrastructure, teacher support, and digital learning, alongside policy measures aimed at strengthening overall quality and access in education.

Meghalaya is set to expand school infrastructure under the next phase of its Mission Education program, with the state government planning to build around 680 new school buildings.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said each unit under Phase IV will receive about ₹70 lakh, aimed at strengthening facilities across the state. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Darang LP School building, completed under Phase III of the initiative.

Highlighting the broader framework guiding the sector, the minister said discussions held since 2018 with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma identified four key pillars, including infrastructure, qualified teachers, policy, and student development.
He added that the Amlarem constituency is likely to receive between eight and eleven new school buildings under the upcoming phase, with a focus on improving access and learning conditions.
Rymbui said the government has made significant financial investments in recent years to build a more sustainable and robust education system under the leadership of the Chief Minister.
The minister also pointed to policy initiatives such as the introduction of a pay-scale framework for ad hoc and SSA teachers to improve their welfare and motivation.
As part of the event, a computer classroom equipped with necessary facilities was handed over under the SRWP 2025–2026 scheme to support digital learning.
Officials present at the program emphasized the need to further strengthen infrastructure and academic progress while noting that the Mission Education initiative continues to play a central role in improving access, quality, and facilities in Meghalaya’s school education system.
