The newly introduced courses integrate emerging technologies, data analytics, and interdisciplinary learning to prepare students for careers in quantum technology, sustainable agriculture, and advanced manufacturing.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has unveiled three new undergraduate programs for the upcoming academic year, introducing specialized BTech degrees that combine engineering education with emerging technologies and data-driven applications.
The newly launched programs include BTech in Quantum Science and Engineering, BTech in Agricultural Engineering with Data Analytics, and BTech in Chemical Engineering with Data Analytics.

The institute said the additions are aimed at aligning academic training with evolving industry requirements and national priorities in science, technology, and innovation.
Among the new offerings, the BTech in Quantum Science and Engineering focuses on building expertise in one of the fastest-growing areas of advanced technology.
The curriculum covers quantum computing, quantum communication, sensing technologies, materials science, and hardware engineering, while also incorporating concepts from computer science, mathematics, and artificial intelligence.
According to the institute, the program is designed to prepare graduates for careers in areas such as quantum hardware development, secure communication systems, and advanced computing technologies that are expected to play a significant role in future scientific and strategic initiatives.
IIT Mandi has also introduced a BTech in Agricultural Engineering with Data Analytics, bringing together traditional agricultural engineering concepts and modern digital technologies.
Students will study artificial intelligence, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), automation, remote sensing, and data analytics alongside core agricultural engineering subjects.
The program emphasizes practical learning through laboratory work, field exposure, internships, and research projects.
Partnerships with agri-tech companies and startups are expected to provide students with industry experience and exposure to emerging innovations in the agriculture sector.
The institute said the course is intended to support advancements in precision farming, sustainable agriculture, and climate-resilient food production.
The third addition, BTech in Chemical Engineering with Data Analytics, will be offered through the School of Chemical Sciences.
The program combines conventional chemical engineering education with modern tools such as process simulation, computational modeling, machine learning, and data science.
A distinctive feature of the program is the flexibility it offers students to pursue a minor or even a double major in disciplines ranging from engineering and science to humanities and management.
IIT Mandi said this interdisciplinary approach is intended to broaden career opportunities and equip graduates with skills applicable across multiple sectors.
With the launch of the three programs, IIT Mandi is seeking to strengthen its focus on interdisciplinary education and prepare students for careers in technology-intensive fields where engineering expertise increasingly intersects with data analytics and emerging digital technologies.
